Day 27: What would you ask JK Rowling if you could sit down with her for coffee (or tea)?

Oh, man. What WOULDN’T I ask her? I would want to know about everyone.

For starters:

  • I want to know who Neville ends up with,
  • What Harry and Ginny’s kids do,
  • If Albus Potter winds up in Slytherin as he fears,
  • If Dumbledore and Grindelwald were more than friends,
  • If Ginny and Harry lived at Grimmauld Place,
  • If Hagrid and Madame Maxime wind up together,
  • If Hermione, Harry, and Ron are given diplomas from Hogwarts, or if they have to complete a seventh year and take their N.E.W.T.S.,
  • If she’s going to write a continuation of the series!?

Oh, who am I kidding? I would sit silently in awe if I met her.

Day 26: What do you think your wizarding career would be?

Hmm. Tough question. (Dang, Tara, way to make it difficult at the end of the month!)

Minister of Magic? Kidding. Honestly, probably a librarian or a teacher. I know. I KNOW. I’m boring. But. BUT! It would be more interesting than IRL, which is saying something since I think this stuff in the Muggle world is interesting. I could totally be on the magical law enforcement squad, too. Maybe it would be easier than Muggle law school?

Day 25: What do you think the three primary characters did for a living after Hogwarts?

Well. I think I am skewed from reading the James Potter series (by G. Norman Lippert), but I thoroughly believe that:

-Harry became an Auror. “And a thumpin’ good one, I’d wager”, if Hagrid’s prediction about Harry’s magic skills hold true to later in life.

-Hermione became a ministry employee, probably a magical law enforcement officer in the ministry. That seems to make since.

-Ron, according to Lippert, took Fred’s position at Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes. I don’t know. I mean, I could see it. But I don’t know if he and Harry would ever separate, truly. So perhaps he’s also an Auror? Interesting thoughts.

This photo has positively nothing to do with the prompt for the day, but I thought it was hilarious. And, also, look at the second-from-bottom on the right. Ginny?

Day 24: Make a Harry Potter-inspired recipe.

Mmmmm, butterbeer.

I used this recipe from Bakingdom. It was good! But.

It really just tasted like cream soda with a little bit of butter flavoring, topped with whipped cream. Which it was. And it was good! But I would recommend putting the whipped cream in the mug before you pour the cream soda over. When I mixed it all in it was foamy and much better than just on top.

Eriana was a fan. Not sure why she is making this face. Weirdo.

Day 23: Make a Harry Potter Craft!

Well. I moved this one down the line a bit, but Eriana helped me out on a “snow” day (a day wherein there was absolutely no snow after 9 a.m. and it was a semi-cloudy but all around great day afterward) and we had fun.

We made Harry’s glasses from pipe cleaners.

We tried them on the dogs, but they weren’t having it.

And then we made Ministry of Magic paper airplane owls.

They’re no Hedwig, but they’re okay for flying around the house.

Day 22: Would you rather have the elder wand, the resurrection stone, or the invisibility cloak?

Easy peasy – invisibility cloak. I think it would be the thing I could use most responsibly. Plus, how awesome would it be to be able to disappear? I mean, I know you’d still be solid, but it would be manageable. If you saw someone from high school at Target you could throw over the cloak and disappear. If you wanted to spy on your neighbors just throw over the cloak and then stand in your front yard to listen to them argue. If you want to run like Phoebe, then throw on the cloak and make sure it covers your limbs as you flail.

Okay, so maybe this isn’t me using it responsibly, but it’s still my favorite Hallow.

Day 21: Was Severus Snape a hero?

Holy crap. I don’t know. Yes. He was. But he was also a big fat jerk. And while I understand some of the things he did, he didn’t have to be an ass about a lot of stuff. I mean, seriously. What the crap? I spent a lot of time being angry with him, and every time I reread the books I get pissed at him all over again. But I also sympathize with him and feel for him. And oh, man, the movies really brought him alive, huh? Alan Rickman is a freaking genius.

Day 20: Who was your favorite teacher at Hogwarts and why?

McGonagall. Hands down. She’s so freaking awesome.

Day 19: If you had a resurrection stone would you use it?

Hm. I… don’t think so. Probably not.

While I think it would be wonderful to have back the people I’ve lost and loved, if it would be a half-life, then it really isn’t fair to them. And plus, the person I’d like back most didn’t live her life, so would she stay a newborn forever? I don’t know.

No, I don’t think I would.

Day 18: What kind of magical animal would you want as a pet?

An owl. Definitely. How handy! And they seem to be fairly low maintenance, as far as birds are concerned.

I think I’d want a screech owl like an asio, like this:

But these are little owls, and I don’t want to be limited on what I can order from Diagon Alley or anything.

So maybe a large and majestic eagle owl?
